order to Sub- Inspector General
of Police to create new
posts and promotion prospects for officer in Punjab police. The order is issue
on dated:8th of April 2025. The main content of the side letter is as
under.
The Chief Minister, Punjab, accords highest
priority to the safe and prosperous Punjab, where each citizen may live a
peaceful life. In a landmark decision, the Chief Minister has approved
establishment of the "Riot Management Police (RMP)" and "Crime
Control Department (CCD)". These initiatives aim to improve public service
delivery in maintaining law and order effectively, as well as combatting
heinous crimes against person and property.

Simultaneously, the Government of Punjab
has also prioritized career progression for the ranks and files of the Punjab
Police and approved creation of 449 posts of Inspectors in BPS-16 to be filled
by appointment through promotion. These promotions will help to realize the
vision of the Government of Punjab, foster career progression and motivation
among officers, leading to improved service delivery across the province.
3. Foregoing in view, it is directed that
SIS confirmed upto 2017, must endeavor to complete their record in all aspects
including PERS upto 2024, etc. as a meeting of Departmental Promotion Committee
(DPC) for promotion from the rank of Sub-Inspector (SI) to the rank of
Inspector is expected to take place in the last week of April 2025.
